ANOTHER BIKER CRASHES IN BUS LANE EXPERIMENT

The results of the long running experiment by Transport for London (TfL) allowing motorcyclists to travel in bus lanes will be reviewed next month and MAG will be there.

The experiment is on several sites one being and at the moment bikers can use the lanes on the A23 from Camberwell to Streatham Common from Monday to Friday between 4pm and 7pm.

The Brixton Hill stretch of the road has seen at least five accidents involving motorbikes this year - with the latest happening on Wednesday evening.

The extent of the victim's injuries are not known but he was treated at the scene by ambulance crew before being taken to hospital.

Brixton Hill trader Tito Carless, 34, said bikers needed to take more responsibility.

He said: "I crashed into the back of a bike just a couple of months ago.

"The guy was driving so fast.

"I think bus drivers should try to overtake riders on the outside but, to be honest, there are a lot of youngsters on scooters who drive really carelessly, so there is only so much you can do."

Transport for London, which launched the trial in October 2002, is releasing a report next month on whether the scheme was a success.

Ed: Anywhere else in Britain, if you hit the back of another vehicle you were the one at fault.

Obviously Tito has an appropriate surname!
