MAG SPORT J’S—Shan Tedder

MAG SPORT J'S - mini moto race team is up and running.

East Anglia Region has the first MAG Junior Members race team aimed at 12-16 year olds.

MAG were approached by the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk to enter a 'outsiders' team into the Moto KL Project which is run via High Schools within West Norfolk.

So far we have signed up 3 riders - two who have come from completely 'non biking' one parent and the junior rider must be MAG members - so interestingly we now have 2 adult MAG members that don't own or even ride a motorcycle!

The Blata mini moto has been kindly provided through the Moto KL project, and we are currently sourcing donations/and or sponsorship to cover the required £5,000,000 Public Liability insurance cover and running costs.

The youngsters run the team themselves (with obvious adult supervision) and are required to work their way through various administration tasks set out in predetermined modules.

A page has already been set up on the Regional website by one of the administration members of the team, and the team is about to decide on their 'racing colours' for the bike.

The Moto KL Project's aims are:- teach team building, community awareness, bike safety, mechanics, all whilst having fun. Each School team meets weekly on their school premises and race events open to the viewing public are held whereby the Schools compete against each other.

MAG Sport J's has now sourced a temporary practice site (no easy task) and shall start preparing for the next race event to be held in September 2005.

Eventually it is hoped that the Norfolk Arena Speedway Track will build a special race circuit which the Moto KL Project can use for Race Days.

Currently the Borough Council allow the races to be held at the Market Place in Kings Lynn.
