AGC 2005 EARLY FEEDBACK

Questions were raised at the AGC on membership data base.

1) Lapsed membership have been sent from the office every month since August 04. Apart from last month, this month will combine last months data. Anybody who requested their data last month was sent it.

2) Mid Lincs raised this point, they will not have received this data as it is emailed to regional reps, they don't have a regional rep. They have received on request their membership data for the group area, the last being Feb.

3) Also raised was feedback at shows on renewals not being received. When we have a MAG "official" stand e.g. NEC there is a feed back book. Checking with the office staff there has been no feedback on membership renewals not being received. There has been approx two queries at each show that people are not receiving Streetbiker and also returned Streetbikers (approx four an issue) to the office not known at this address. This has been mainly people not informing the office when they move address.

4) Membership renewals. These are processed through the data base. This fires out a renewal reminder two weeks before membership lapse and one week after it lapses. Life members do not get a renewal reminder, obviously but there are members who have asked not to receive Streetbiker because of the way the data base is set up those members do not get a renewal letter. This is now being urgently reviewed.

5) Query at AGC on Life membership standing order mix up. Ian Moore spoke to the person concerned and the office is sorting out standing order. The issue was with the persons bank not accepting our bank details.

Conclusion.

The picture as painted at AGC is not that bad.

Members need to inform the office when they change address.

The relevant facts discussed at the AGC were:

Following the letter sent out to 1150 life members, 216 had requested the more permanent card, 104 stading orders had been received, while 82 members had requested that they no longer wished to receive StreetBiker.

The savings from not sending out StreetBiker and the additional income from the standing orders ammount to £6k extra to MAG so far.

To this end Ian Moore indicated that it had been a very worthwhile exercise, but Ian streesed that he was very sorry that some people had taken the wrong message from the letter and that it could have been better worded.

He stressed that all life members were valued and that life memberships would not be terminated if members failed to respond, in the event of not receiving a reply automatic mail out of StreetBiker would cease, though life members affected could request copies of StreetBiker at any time should they so wish.
