WESTMINSTER LOBBY 15TH MARCH 2001
Please contact your MP now if you have not yet booked to attend!
With a General Election expected this year MAG is urging all politically active bikers to contact their MPs to book a Westminster meeting for March 15th. We currently have a great chance to influence MPs views on motorcycling issues such as lack of parking spaces, bike theft, access to bus lanes and exemption from congestion and workplace charging!
Following a promotional photo shoot on College Green at 10.30hrs involving bikes of three different capacities - a Honda Goldwing, a 600 Bandit and a Piaggio 'Zip' - riders will converge on the Atlee Room at Portcullis House for an afternoon question and answer session between 14.00hrs and 16.00hrs. Spokespeople from industry (Craig Carey-Clinch), riders groups (Ian Mutch & Trevor Magner, MAG & BMF) and the main political parties (Phil Woolas MP, Lembit Opik MP, Bernard Jenkin MP) will be present to discuss and answer questions from motorcyclists concerned at the continuing lack of policy towards powered two wheelers in such a rapidly expanding market.
Riders representing all regions of the UK are being urged to contact their MPs and book Westminster meetings to raise biking issues. The Florence Nightingale Public House will be used as temporary base from midday where attendees will be briefed, before taking the short walk across Westminster Bridge to Portcullis House. Biking issues include:
- Lack of strategy for motorcycling in the UK. Press enquiries, further details of the campaign, and booking places at the Mass Lobby are being co-ordinated from MAG UK Central Office. Do not hesitate to contact us on 0870 444 8 448 for further information, or assistance.
