PAIR CLEARED OF MOTO CHARGES

Monday, February 6:

Two young Hemel Hempsteadmen have each been cleared of a string of motoring charges after being stopped on Mini Motos.

The machines, about 12 inches high, look like miniature motorcycles but magistrates at the hearing at Watfordon January 24

agreed with an expert witness the vehicles were not made or adapted for road use and so did not come under road traffic regulations.

Lee Goddard, aged 19, of Ebberns Road faced nine charges and Darren Still, aged 21, of Springfield Road, seven charges.

Both had pleaded not guilty to all the charges after being spotted in Apsley in May last year.

The acquittals overturned the results of an earlier hearing on November 29 last year when the pair were found guilty.
