Email is the name of the game and the preferable method. Please, please don't use attachments for text as it often throws up problems, just paste the text into the message as this works every time. If you are sending images, JPEGs work and don't consume too much memory i.e. low download time.
If time is not a problem just send the original pictures as I can then scan them in with the appropriate output size, I appreciate that people might be trying to make my life easier by doing part of the job for me but it usually goes wrong. Please remember I am using an Apple Mac. Typed copy can be scanned using character recognition software so long as it is nice and clear, please avoid the temptation to type in capitols. If leaving messages on my answer machine please leave your number and resist the temptation to spit it out at a rate of knots one might associate with a frantic futures trader on the stock market. You would be amazed how many people do this. I may well have your number of course but it saves time if I don't have to go and look it up - good standard practise. Please remind all your members that I do not disseminate material from this office e.g. membership forms etc - that's all done from Central. I am getting an increasing number of requests for things that I do not provide. I quite like getting a few jokes on email but some people keep trying to steer me into websites which seldom works for me and waste my time. I do try and return all calls and emails immediately so if you haven't heard from me it doesn't mean that I hold you in contempt and wish you wander off into the Sahara and expire from thirst, it's just that I am probably suffering from information overload and you have been overlooked accidentally, just call again. If you want to make absolutely sure that your event or article is in the next issue of the paper just call me close to the publication date and check. I'd rather you did this than beat me over the head with it when it comes out minus your contribution as this embarrasses me, makes me look unprofessional and can be painful.
