London’s Motorcycle Parking Newsletter

Welcome!

To this first edition of the Corporation of London’s Motorcycle Parking newsletter.

The newsletter is intended as an occasional informal publication about developments with parking in the City for motorcycles and scooters.

The Corporation of London is the local authority for the City of London and is working in conjunction with private-sector partners to improve facilities for motorcycling in the Square Mile.

More parking space in Corporation car parks The Corporation of London has expanded the motorcycle parking available in its Baynard House, Minories, Swan Lane and White’s Row car parks to devote an entire floor of each of these car parks solely for motorcycles and scooters.

The locations of all of these car parks are marked with the blue “P” parking symbol on the map overleaf. (see Network July 2005 download version)

MOTORCYCLE PARKING in the City of London Newsletter 1 — June 2005

NCP announces a new secure motorcycle parking facility and a special flat fee at Aldersgate Street car park NCP, London’s biggest public car park provider, is trialling a new secure motorcycle parking facility at its Aldersgate Street car park (near London Wall and the Museum of London).

The entire first floor of the car park has been dedicated for motorcycle parking.

The facility has 90 ground anchors for motorcycles and scooters to be locked to and the car park has closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance, regular security patrols, on-site assistance staff and good lighting.

A special motorcycle lane allows bikes to bypass entry and exit queues and go straight to the first floor.

In addition, there is a special flat fee of just £2 per day for the new secure motorcycle parking facility.

The car park is located at 157–170 Aldersgate Street and the location is marked on the map overleaf. (see Network July 2005 download version)

As well as Aldersgate Street, NCP now welcomes motorcyclists at all 60 of its car parks within the Central London congestion charging zone at a charge of £3 per day.

Those in the City and the City Fringe are also marked on the map.
