MCN & DARK GLASSES

MAG Central Office has been asked several times recently regarding an article in MCN that stated that the fine for wearing a dark visor is now a fine plus 3 penalty points - an endorsable offence.

This is what I have found in the attached document.

The links below set out what is an endorsable offence and wearing a dark visor is not in the lists.

The attached document sets out the regulation on wearing eye protection from December 2004.

Point 7 - 7.1 This is a non-endorsable offence for which offenders issued with a fixed penalty notice will pay a fine of £30.

So the direct answer is that wearing a Dark Visor does not get you penalty points.

Although 8 - 8.2 is an arguable point on reducing death and injury on our roads.

See MAG document from 2003 Here which was an action document on the consultation.

Unfortunately we failed to get the then Transport Minister David Jamieson to change his mind.
