NOT JUST BIKERS WHO ARE LOSING THEIR FREEDOMS South Wales Echo
FREEDOM is something you don't fully value until you lose it.
The citizens of inner Cardiff will realise what great freedom they had when it is gone.
Currently, people in and visitors to inner Cardiff can drive round any of the inner suburbs and park for free without being hassled by money-grabbing rip-off privatised parking attendants.
The Liberal Democrats and New Labour councillors are going to change all that.
You will pay wherever you park.
Outside your own house or in a short-term parking bay, if you can find one.
The councillors have decided that residents of inner Cardiff are second-class citizens.
They will not in future be allowed to have motor cars.
The number of parking bays for residents will be reduced and reduced and get more and more expensive.
Eventually you will be forced out of your car.
Commuting by car to inner Cardiff? Do not be absurd.
Verboten! Not allowed!
Need a car for your business? Employ lots of people?
Help keep the shopping streets vibrant and alive?
So what!
The Liberal Democrat and New Labour councillors want you out of your car.
The council has plenty more ways to kill off the inner suburbs and our currently busy shopping streets.
Cowbridge Road, we have limitless amounts of council taxpayers' money to waste on widening the pavements and removing all parking spaces.
The council can make main shopping streets Red Routes for bendy buses to whizz along past the empty shops.
The congestion charge will be levied! The fact that Cardiff is a small city with no real traffic problem and certainly no parking problems in Canton is not going to stop them.
The council can and will successfully destroy the city's laid-back atmosphere by having aggressive profit driven parking attendants waiting to pounce on every motorist.
The council will collect lots of stealth tax for Gordon Brown.
The Liberal Democrat and New Labour councillors will obey the commands of their parties' central offices in London ahead of the wishes of the people of Cardiff.
The council will take away the freedom of the people of inner Cardiff, who will do as they are told!
