The Wheel Licence Restored!
On the night of Wednesday 22nd June, following a high police presence all evening, a regular bike meet at The Wheel, Worfield near Bridgnorth in Shropshire was closed down, the police cited 'public safety concerns'.
Police won a temporary closure order from magistrates banning the pubs' landlady, Gloria Goodson, from trading until 4th July.
The landlady of The Wheel has been hosting the Wednesday night bike meet for 9 years without incident.
In support of the pub a 1000 strong peaceful 'ride slow' protest was held on Wednesday 29th June.
The police were again present, but simply observed.
The Pub's application to restore it's licence was due to be heard the following Monday, 4th July.
The police argued that the event requires better marshalling and that they have video evidence of motorcyclists behaving badly.
The Wheel's application for its licence to be restored was approved at the appeal, with some conditions.
These were: that there are more marshals for the event with First Aiders available and that the numbers of motorcyclists allowed to attend are restricted to 750 and their motorcycles must be parked off the road.

MAG has been involved in the past at other bike meets, negotiating with the police, local council and residents.
The "dialogue" among motorcyclists is an important, often overlooked, instrument for passing on vital information and forming positive attitudes towards motorcycling: Experienced riders share their knowledge of riding tips and hints as well as machine maintenance with the novice riders.
MAG says Bike meets such as The Wheel should be encouraged rather than discouraged as this is an opportunity for different experiences to be shared.
