MAG Foundation Crime Seminar (Still Time Left to Register)

THE MAG FOUNDATION INVITES YOU TO ATTEND A TRAINING SEMINAR

There is still time to register for the MAG Foundations inaugurate seminar on security, motorcycle theft and the identification of stolen motorbikes.

The seminar is to be held at the Warwick University Humanities Building on Saturday 18th of September, commencing at 1 p.m and finishing at 5 p.m.

Led by Ken German, you may remember his regular column in Streetbiker. He's now retired from the Stolen Vehicle Unit of the London Metropolitan Police and is presently the Vice President of the UK Branch of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators. We have had a sneak preview of Kens presentation and if you've ever worried that the bike you are buying is not kosher, then Ken's presentation will give you a resource toolkit to assist in finding out.

With a deviation in the presentation to how the under funded police frogman unit was set up, he explains in detail the identification marks and colour schemes on a motorcycle, almost to telling you what time the manufacturers had their lunch breaks.

Ken's presentation is in depth and will raise a few eyebrows on theft issues. Brilliant and not to be missed! Ken will also present information about the new motorcycle theft web site he manages and which has been set up by the police in collaboration with the motorcycle industry.

MAG will present our own data. Statistics can be boring - most of the time they are - but MAG’s Research Officer will aim to give a different slant and show you what we found out from the 2,200 surveys on theft and security carried out over the last two years - definitely not what you think!

Barry Mudie, Police Examiner from the Stolen Vehicle Unit of the London Metropolitan Police will then discuss the fine art of examining stolen motorbikes and explain what members should look for, what they should do if they have any suspicions as well as expanding the knowledge of police officers.

Ian Kerr, Police officer and regular contributor to Streetbiker will present - well you'll have to come along to the seminar to find out.
