The Motorcycle Action Group has sent its congratulations to MEP Liz Lynne on successfully passing her motorcycle test.
Liz joins fellow Liberal Democratic Party biking MP Lembit Opik on two wheels.
The Liberal Democrats were the first UK political party to launch a motorcycling-specific policy back in
1996, which led to Labour, and eventually the Conservatives, producing similar documents.
Commenting on her pass, Liz said, "The nature of my work as an MEP means I am
constantly having to travel between Brussels, Strasbourg and the vast West Midlands region itself. As such I have not had as much time to practice as I would have liked and am delighted to have
passed my test.
Liz rode a 125cc machine in the 6th MEP Ride from the European Parliament in Strasbourg in July with MAG and riders groups from across Europe, sharing the experience
of biking in pleasant weather in beautiful surroundings as well as the darkness and pouring rain in the mountains above Strasbourg. The ride was aimed at underlining the contribution
Powered Two-Wheelers can make to the relief of traffic congestion.
Liz commented, "More than 20 million people across Europe choose motorcycles as a regular means of getting
about. I have been representing bikers' interests in the Parliament for a number of years - now as a fellow biker myself I will have a greater understanding of the issues affecting
them."
