Local Group Expansion Plan

Two of three new groups in NI have confirmed a meeting place and forwarded details to the Northern Ireland Region.

Foyle MAG launch their group on Tuesday 22nd June followed by regular meetings on the third Wednesday of each month in the Happy Landing Bar, Eglinton from 7.30pm. Details from Philip Dolan 077 4337 4967

Tyrone MAG launch their group on Tuesday 8th June followed by regular meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Weigh Inn, Kevlin Road, Omagh from 7.30pm. Details from Phil James 078 8158 1952

The third group is planned for Portadown/Craigavon under the leadership of Karl Black of the successful Bikers NI club. Details on www.writetoride.co.uk once confirmed.

New branch launching in Gillingham (Medway MAG). A lot of the affiliated clubs in the area (including the Renegades MC, who have just re-joined for the first time in 2-3 years) have pledged their support.

Spin off from Hastings, there is to be a new branch launching in the Mid-Sussex area (the Cock Inn, at Wivelsfield near Haywards Heath is looking like a certain venue - tbc). The catchment area relates directly to the Hub Town concept - Crawley, Horsham, Haywards Heath, Lewes; all fairly large towns within 10-15 miles of the venue. More details as and when.

Bradford MAG held their re-launch on Thursday 29th April at the Queens Hotel, Thornton Road, Bradford. Around 70 bikers attended the launch night including a good many members of the old Bradford MAG, members of the MAG affiliated White Rose MCC and a good many others. New Rep Belinda did a splendid job and it is great to see Bradford MAG up and running again.

Doncaster MAG have yet to set a launch date although preparations are going well and the new Reps are extremely competent and enthusiastic.

Halifax MAG are already meeting every Monday at 8:00pm in the Sportsman, Crown Street, Halifax, although the official launch will be at the Calderdale Custom Show at the Piece Hall, Halifax in June.

East London MAG held their inaugrual meeting on Wednesday 28th April. Launch Report: So, there we were with both feet planted firmly in the air! Richard, the new rep, called me from the pub to say it was shut. I called the pub and they told me they were being refurbished. His ‘punishment’ for not ensuring that the venue would be open on our launch night was to stay in the car park and re-direct people to the other pub we decamped to. This was a bit noisy, so could not have a ‘proper’ meeting, but the new faces (people who had not been to a MAG meet before) were made to feel welcome and said they will return next week. I made sure everyone got spoken to (in a friendly manner) – so goodwill was established. Many thanks to all those from other groups who boosted the numbers – they know who they were.

It has lifted off – the LGEP is working. Roll on Kentish MAG. Gerard ‘Uncle Sol’ Levitt, Greater London RR.

The LGEP is a tremendous success and new groups are springing up all over the UK. MAG is on a roll !!!!

Keep the launch reports rolling in.
