Possible New NC Post - Network Communications Officer

Please check out AGC Motion 3 on the MAG Annual Group Conference page. The post of National Reps Liaison Officer (RLO) has become redundant in recent years with less and less duties attaching to it. It is clear however that there are other functions that remain unfulfilled. With the RLO post uncontested this year we have the opportunity to make a painless change, replacing the empty post of RLO with one that the NC actually needs.

The following is the proposed job specification. If you think you could handle the workload, please consider putting yourself forward to the NC after the AGC. The closing date for nominations has passed for the RLO job and this is a new post. If passed by the AGC the post will be elected from 2003. The new post cannot constitutionally be elected at this year's AGC as constitutional amendments do not take effect until the closing of the AGC, which is in effect the end of MAG's 'constitutional year'. New officers' terms of office likewise 'go live' at the same point. Also of course, there is no time for potential candidates to put out a manifesto now, the close date having passed.

The functions of the Network Communications Officer shall be as follows:
1. To produce each month 'Network', MAG's campaigning newsletter designed to
communicate information to MAG groups on areas of interest that are key to MAG's
    aims.

Specifically, these are:
A) Political Campaigning.
B) Public Relations / Promotion of MAG events.
C) Structural Enhancement (Interchange of 'best practice' ideas between regions and local
    groups.)
2. To interface with MAG's full time Research Officer in respect of the political content.
3. To interface with the StreetBiker Editor / PR Officer in respect of PR.
4. To interface with MAG's event organisers to ensure that MAG events are properly
    promoted.
5. To interface with the National Chairman in respect of recruitment and structural
    enhancement.
6. To interface with the National Clubs Officer in respect of material aimed at recruiting clubs
to MAG affiliation, keeping existing clubs affiliated and converting affiliates to full individual
    membership.
7. To interface with all Regional Reps, seeking out and disseminating via Network advice on
    best practice.
8. To process the material supplied by the above officers into Network each month.
9. To maintain the Reps Handbook, reviewing the contents quarterly to ensure it is complete
    and up to date.
10. To formulate and develop ideas and initiatives of his / her own for the advancement of
     MAG.
11. To ensure that all Reps are actually Members of MAG, chasing individual renewals as
    required.
12. To maintain the NC Contact List.
