Focus on …. Motorcycle Parking

The issue of motorcycle parking is one that every motorcyclist in the country will recognize as a problem.  Whether it is about parking your bike securely at home or parking it in your local town center, it is sure to be something that we all worry about.

In this issue we are concentrating on the subject of parking provided (or not!) by local councils.  Several items of late have made this the issue of the moment.  The DTLR have recently issued guidelines to local councils about motorcycle parking, and very recently our Nicki Bassett Powell has opened a new secure motorcycle park in Middlesbrough.  Craig Carey-Clinch recently spoke to the Spring 2002 British Parking Association Seminar in his capacity as Director of Public Affairs for the MCIA (the article from the BPA newsletter is reproduced here with their permission), and I have been to visit my local motorcycle parks, the local parking shop, and my local council to find out what I could about parking for bikes in my own area.

Please feel free to e-mail me with any comments you have about anything you read in the articles.

Remember, this newsletter is for you and for your views.
