Superbikes Saved From Supertax

MAG is very pleased that the government has not loaded big bikes with heavy tax rates as had been mooted recently.

Tax rates for most classes of motorcycle are down, reflecting recognition that the government accepts MAG¹s view that all motorcycles are good for the environment, not just small ones.

Interestingly, the smallest category 0-150cc tax rate remains static while all others have fallen which may reflect the high revenue losses which would have resulted from exempting the large number of commuter scooters which have entered the market.

MAG suspect that the government did not relish the prospect of a Christmas sized post bag full of letters from irate MAG members which would certainly have arrived had the bikes which most MAG members ride been loaded.

MAG Public Relations Director Ian Mutch - "In common with our colleagues in the motorcycle community we¹d love to see a zero tax rate for all bikes, but as real world options go this isn’t bad and represents a testimony to persistent lobbying, meaningful dialogue and co-operation."
