Asphalt Industry Alliance

The Asphalt Industry Alliance (AIA) has contacted MAG to request the views of individuals on road maintenance issues.

The AIA is looking for responses to the following questions:

Other than motorways what do you think about the state of the UK’s roads generally?

Are they maintained:

[well]
[adequately]
[don’t know]
[badly]
[v badly]

Who do you believe is primarily responsible for the condition of the UK’s road network, excluding motorways? (choose one option only)

[Department for Transport]
[Local authorities]
[Private contractors]
[Devolved government and agencies, e.g., Highways Agency; Welsh Assembly/Scottish Parliament, TfL]

Do you think more money for local road maintenance work should come from Central Government?

[significantly more]
[some more]
[don’t know]
[no more]
[more from local government]

How do you rate the importance of road maintenance?

[top priority]
[very high]
[high]
[medium]
[average]
[low]
[very low priority]

Why?

Of the Central Government funds allocated for local roads, do you think your local authority spends:

[All of funds allocated]
[Less than funds allocated]
[More than funds allocated]

Modern asphalts offer a number of specific benefits – are you aware of any of these, if so which?

More information about the work of the AIA is available on their website: www.asphaltindustryalliance.com

The AIA can also be contacted on 020 7730 1100 or via e-mail asphalt@hmpr.co.uk
