The Roads Division have agreed in principle to provide secure motorcycle parking in Ballymena (County Antrim) Town Centre car parks.
This has
also been approved by the PSNI as a sensible move in the interests of the towns many bikers. Good news for Ballymena & Northern Ireland's bikers.
It is also
good to see that the secure bike park at the local tech, which was constructed after talks with Mid Antrim MAG mainly in the interests of scooter riders, has actually encouraged
lecturers and those with motorcycles to ride their bikes to work. Each day there are at least half a dozen high-powered machines amongst the smaller bikes and scooters.
Bus Lanes in Northern Ireland
Bikers in Northern Ireland can ride in selected (most) bus lanes from Tuesday 1st June 04. This will be part of an experimental scheme reviewed every 6
months and to last no longer than 18 months as such. (It can be made permanent, cancelled or put to further trial after 6 or 12 months).
The original date was 22nd
March 04 but was postponed due to objections from cyclists. MAG NI quickly got in touch with the roads transportation unit and the DRDNI to play an advisory role.
A massive thank you to Alan Keys of the DRDNI Roads Transportation Unit who was the key influence in the concession made on behalf of MAG & Northern Ireland's legion
of motorcyclists.
