Insensitivity to Disabled Bikers

The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) supports the National Association of Bikers With a Disability (NABD) in its criticism of the latest Kent County Council road safety campaign. MAG agree with NABD that the posters depicting injured bikers in wheelchairs is insensitive to disabled bikers who are wheelchair-bound.

MAG Spokesman Ian Mutch said, 'We appreciate that the campaign's architects feel they need hard hitting messages but feel that a dialogue with rider bodies, principally NABD, would have been helpful and diplomatic. In an age of inclusivity and consultation this campaign strikes a dull note.

If you still find this style of campaign to be offensive new contact details
for the Kent & Medway Safety Camera Partnership are 01622 656393 or e-mail
enquiries@kentandmedwaysafetycameras.org.uk alternatively you can contact
them via their web site www.kentandmedwaysafetycameras.org.uk

NABD assists disabled riders to ride safely and independently they can be contacted at www.nabd.org.uk
