RETURN TO SPENDER

The case of the suspected thief whose 'property' was returned to him because the car he was thought to have stolen had its engine numbers ground off, illuminates a major problem. This problem affects motorcycles also which are now being stolen in unprecedented numbers.

The Police National Computer currently shows 85,000 unsolved motorcycle thefts over the last four years alone and the problem is worsening, particularly in the capital where thousands are turning two wheels to beat traffic jams. As things stand, many victims of motorcycle theft are now finding it impossible to buy theft cover, particularly if their motorcycles are not garaged. If the law were changed so that vehicle keepers could not legally retain vehicles devoid of legitimate identification then a great step forward would be made. MAG is currently campaigning for the law to be changed to end the irony of known thieves being able to keep their spoils. Furthermore, with covert markings of parts besides frames and engines around half of all unidentifiable recoveries could be returned to their rightful owners.

Following meetings with the Metropolitan Chief of Stolen vehicles it has become apparent that a major obstacle to pursuing the highly successful tactic of sting operations is the lack of suitable donor bikes. If MAG had the funds we would buy perfect sting bikes and loan them to the police which we are assured they would be happy to receive from us and deploy. If today's riders want motorcycle theft and are prepared to support MAG by joining us then we will do our level best to get this problem sorted and hopefully discourage criminals from wrecking motorcyclists lives.

TO THE EXCITING PART

Extract from journey to the centre of the earth set to music by Rick Wakeman.

We came to a fork in the tunnel; without hesitation Professor Liddenbrook chose the Eastern route and we followed in his footsteps.

Four days later, our supplies of food and water completely exhausted, we came to a dead end. With the last remnants of our strength we beat the living shit out of Professor Liddenbrook
