TEENAGER'S NECK CUT BY WIRE TRAP

A 16-year-old boy has had 17 stitches in his neck after driving into barbed wire that was stretched across a track used by off road bikers in Rotherham.

Scott Bower was cut by the wire near Grange Park Golf Club at Watsons Tip.

Insp. James Revitt said the teenager had a nasty cut on his neck and was lucky not to have been more seriously hurt.

He said the police received a lot of complaints about off road bikers, but this showed the danger of people taking the law into their own hands.

'Very lucky' "We are treating this matter very seriously," he said.

"This also highlights the risks to the youths who undertake such activities." Scott's mother, Lesley Bower, said she was horrified by what had happened.

"He's really scared. I don't think he'll be going on a bike in the near future," she said.

"He's been very, very lucky. I could have lost my son."
